How to get involved
The Library Manifesto for Europe is a tool available for libraries across the European Union in support of advocacy. We hope that it will be a basis for advocacy activities by individual libraries, librarians and library associations.
IFLA has reached out to library associations in each EU Member State in order to engage with political parties in each country. Our aim is to collect examples of how each party plans to support libraries under the next mandate of the Parliament.
But we want everyone to feel like they can get involved! Here are some ideas:
Download the manifesto in your own language. If yours does not appear yet, and you are willing, we would be happy to share an editable file so you can provide one! Please contact communications@ifla.org
Share examples on social media of how your library delivers on the priorities identified. Use the hashtag: #Europe4Libraries2019
Identify a candidate for the European Parliament from your country or local area – share the manifesto with them, either by e-mail or on social media
Invite a candidate to your library to talk about your work
Contact your national library association to find out how you can get involved in advocacy at a national level
